Yes, in order to break this thing, they had to (in order): sit on it, drop it while jogging, drop it twice while riding a bike, drop it from 9 feet, run over it with a car, then run over it AGAIN, and finally drop it from a height of 40 feet.

That makes the iPod nano tougher than most wristwatches. Now if only there was a way to make good sounding headphones that tough.

I had a bunch of CDs run over by a car and they were barely scratched - I don't think it's that great of a test for smething that small. I wish they had slammed it in a door, or stuffed it in their back pocket before sitting on it, so their ass acted as a lever and put some real stress on it.

That said, I still want one really bad :-)

What you really need is the "wait for Breakpoint's cell phone to drop out in the middle of a call to his girlfriend and quickly swap it for the iPod Nano" test.

My Kyocera has actually survived the gut-wrenching impacts of being hurled into both a solid wood door and straight into asphalt with my best fastball pitch, feats for which it is allowed to live.

Oh-- and as for the shower test, I expect it would pass with flying colors. Even if it crapped out, you could just wait for it to dry out and probably be fine. The voltage is way too low to cause a problem. The real nuisance would probably be that fog would form between the LCD glass and the polycarbonate case window, which always sucks.

I'm a little curious what you were planning to use for headphones, however.

Oooh! That's so cool! And given how prone I am to dropping things, fabulous for me should I need a new ipod.
