... from Santa Cruz, I played the entire "Space Donut" album, from beginning to end. I can't believe it's been three years since we puked an album out.

I laughed out loud in a few bits. I even unconsciously began to sing along to ">HELLO SAILOR". I was surprised ... I didn't expect to enjoy it so much.

Listening all the way through "Weenie Roast" is hard. I always get beaten down by "Obey Monkey". On "Blood Sausage" I always give up after "Beatings". The only way for me to get through "Creeping Banana" is to skip "Ape Thirlwell Asstravaganza", which is a dirge (I hate my own singing on it), and fast-forward through the title track. Even then I usually crap out after "Blip In Space".

Yep, I have to go all the way back to "Real Butter" to find an album that I can listen to, with pleasure, all the way through. That album has a rowdy, belligerent feel to it that says, "we find this hilarious, even if you don't, so NYEEEAH".

But yeah, that was ten years ago. Space donut has a different feel. It says, "now we're all freaking professionals, and the burps are wearing suits, and the farts smell like money".

I think this time around we'll take the fidelity back down a notch.

Last year's studio work happened to coincide with one of the worst periods of my adult life. I was sick, terrified, and miserable. The followup, this year, will be different. It's time to take the gloves off again and get rowdy. Time to drag monkyey myayehyem back out of the pit and give it a brand new silver tux. And then set it on fire.

I went back and looked through the dates of the albums. From what I know (and what I know is limited in scope for the other band members) about your lives, I think the last ten years have been a time, alternately, of change, misfortune, loss, stagnation, self-doubt, and self-discovery. Maybe you don't make the BEST music when you're in the throes of the transitional decade from the longing tail end of adolescence to the meat of adulthood, but I bet it's going to give you guys a LOT of perspective on what's FUN, what's FUNNY, and what you want to more of (and less of!) in the next ten years of recording.

Just a thought.

Hey intelligent points.. now why didn't i think of these? Off topic barely, is this web page pattern merely from an abnormal installation or else do you use a personalized template. I take advantage of a webpage i’m searching for to improve and effectively the visuals is likely one of many key issues to complete on my list.

This is one of the earliest LiveJournal templates, customized to shorten the navigation bar on the left side. I'm actually not that pleased with it these days, having shifted my preference to black-on-white instead of white-on-black, but it does well enough.

If I were to do it over, I would create a custom layout based on one of the newer templates, in order to get fancy things like a calendar or a comment stream, and then wire up a crossposting mechanism to automatically interleave stuff from flickr, Facebook, and wordpress. But who's got the time? :D
