My Dream Camera
May. 26th, 2009 12:37 am- Canon EOS 50D 15.1MP Digital SLR Camera (Body Only)
I really want to stay loyal to the Sony Alpha line, since it is the successor to the Minolta line I've had such fun with. But Sony leapfrogged my market segment by releasing a $3000 20 megapixel beast, and leaving their A700 to languish. - Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM Lens for Canon DSLR Cameras
A $1700 lens, before discount. Image stabilized, and F2.8 throughout the zoom range, with the "ultrasonic" focus, and a minimum focal distance just close enough to make macro photography possible, while still giving me a nice range for travel shooting. And supposedly, the glass is on par with Canon's L series. (If I was rich, and did a lot of traveling, I'd be tempted to complement this with a 70mm-200mm lens.) - Canon EW-83J Lens Hood for EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM Lens
- B + W 77mm Circular Polarizer Multi Coated Glass Filter
- SanDisk 8 GB Extreme III CF Card SDCFX3-008G-A31 (Retail Package)
- Lowepro Toploader Pro 65 AW SLR Camera System Holster Case Black

And sure, you can question the wisdom of buying black luggage for a vehicle that is meant to be visible at night. But I don't see why you would. At night my gear has highly reflective patches on front, rear, and sides, and I ride with a bright tail light and a VERY bright headlight. Before you get into this debate with me, come on a ride with me at night and see for yourself how much color matters.
