My kitty died today.
She's buried under the statue in the back yard.

A few days back I came out to her little kitty-bed in the living room, and laid down so my head was resting lightly over her body. She was able to purr for me, weakly. I petted her and spoke to her and tried to make my peace. I knew this day was coming, and soon.

She taught me all about cats; how to reach them, how to enjoy them. I used to nap in the grass behind my house in the woods, and she would come stalking through the tall grass, and sit casually on the center of my chest. A lithe white siamese cross, proud and vocal, and one hell of a fighter for her size.

In my cuddling affection, if my movements strike you as catlike, don't be surprised. I learned them from a cat.

I'm so very sorry. I haven't yet had to come to terms with my kitty's mortality in reality - I think I came close a few weeks ago, but you have my deepest sympathies.

Sniff, I have lost my kittys before, but not in such a loving and truly natural way. I am happy that your kitty lived such a long and loved life. That is very special.

I'm so sorry to hear this, Garrett. I know how long Tuna's been in your family, and I know she's been such a great companion for you.

I remember so many times at your house, petting her, holding her, and playing with her. She was such a good cat.

It's unfortunate for us that cats live the short life that they do; it's so heartbreaking to see one go after being bonded with it for 10, 15, or 20 years.

My only consolation for you is that I know from personal experience that she had a very good life for a cat. I know that if cats have their own small animal version of love, she passed on feeling that for you.
