Jan. 30th, 2002 08:53 pmThe empty sockets sing to me, from the four corners of my mouth. They sing the Ripped Up And Bleeding song. They are my constant little companions here in my room. It is amazing, for their size. They sing louder than anything I think about.
So I listen to each one in turn, then the chorus. How are you? Still bloody? Still ripped upo? Glad to hear it.
Thankfully the headache went away when I stopped taking the Vicadin.

But it's funny; despite my complaining here on LiveJournal, I was lucky as well ... they had to cut into the gum to get three of the four out, and two of the teeth had to be drilled in half because they were sideways, but the operation went perfectly and there were no complications. They would have put me under, but I opted for the local anesthetic because I was kind of morbidly curious about the whole thing.
Afterwards the doc said that, in a procedure like mine, some people are put off solid foods for a week, demand massive painkillers, and bleed nonstop for days ... but here I am just about 24 hours after, and the bleeding has stopped, the pain has receded, and I just ate a loaf of top ramen. Must be them tough genes of my father's.
But even with my curiosity, the operation was scary. I sweated and gripped the seat, and when they were pulling the teeth out I could feel the massive force they applied, and I knew that it would hurt like hell when the novocaine wore off. I must have been cute in my suffering, because about halfway through, the 20-something intern they had in the room to observe picked up my hand and started petting it. She held my hand all the rest of the way through my visit. That helped. In our chit-chat, she made sure to mention her fiancee, which I thought was good of her. Avoided any misunderstandings.
Er, anyway, yeah. :)

Date: 2002-01-31 10:39 pm (UTC)When you wrote those posts, I had no idea what you were talking about... (Despite the fact that you'd mentioned you were going to the dentist earlier, but anyway...) I never needed this operation, I possess an enormous head. But I had braces and rubber bands in my mouth for many school years, I had a big gap between my two front teeth, long before I met you. Now it is gone.
