A terrific idea

Donorschoose.org is a terrific execution of a good idea. The only bad thing anyone could say about it is that it promotes the impression that our school system doesn't need any more government funding, because unsolicited donations will cover their costs instead.

To reverse that impression, just browse the site's proposals. Pathetically few of them have even 1% of their donation goals met.

This is what teachers struggle with every day in this country. Education, we are all saying, loud and clear, isn't worth a damn cent. It's a dog-eat-dog world instead, we say, and our prophecy is fulfilled, as our pathetic schools raise another round of dogs.

It makes me very angry sometimes.
