When distinguished institutions like the New York Times can no longer differentiate between factual content and editorial opinion, but rather mix both freely on their front page, then who will hold anyone to a higher standard?

Essentially, we need to teach the public about the freaking scientific method.
One of Lucas' many possible second careers (I guess if he ever gets sick of big pharma R&D) is to teach 8th grade / early high school science, with an eye toward actually teaching what science IS instead of trying to cram a bunch of surface-level chemistry and physics into young brains. He wants to teach more critical evaluation of evidence--not to mention what makes science fun, if such a thing can be taught.
