I you want to limit corporate size, there are some nifty suggestions from various sources that start with the tax system. Some obvious starters:
• Increase taxes for companies that hire fewer people. • Tweak the deppreciation tables, making it impossible to write off equipment to zero, but still sell it used, resulting in a paper/tax profit.
Oh, and the media? What we call the collection of for-profit entities that purport to deliver "news," but really just deliver advertising? That's an experiment that had a long run (since 1833!), but the bloom is finally off the rose, leaving only thorns.
We need a taxpayer-funded news system that can compete with the corporate behemoths. Describing what I have in mind would take too long here; but the result should be a restoration of faith in reporting, one which would drown out (or at least attenuate) bullshit fakey-news.
