Thing: "BOOO! I AM A GHOST! I AM INSIDIOUS AND CREEPY! BOOOOO!"
Cat: "I don’t get it. You’re what again?"
Thing: "BOOO! GHOOOOST! THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD, SORT OF THING! WOOOO!"
Cat: "I have no idea what you’re talking about."
Thing: "BOO -- DRAT, THIS ISN’T WORKING IS IT?"
Cat: "Do you mind? We're trying to sleep."
Thing: "UGH. I'M GOING TO TRY THE NEXT HOUSE DOWN..."

If they get too close she eats them.
