Saw 'Spirited Away'. Man, I'm such a sap, but I have to say, the imagery was so powerful, I nearly cried three times with the intensity of it all. Little things, like the girl's first meal in the new land, or her sleeping next to her little friends in the boiler room. Drawn and cut so precisely, just so. Bittersweet reminders of childhood helplessness and growth. The blood, the dangerous animal writhing of the injured serpent. The books rearranging themselves. And of course the comic relief characters that are so trademark 'Totoro'.
Wow. I had to fork out $9.50 to see this film, and it was actually worth it. That's higher praise than I could give to any other film this year, and probably last year. Hell, where there's a matinee, I'm gonna go see it again.
Talked with android606 all night long last night. Told him the tale of me recent life. It was worth the drive to see him. My anger is lessened even more. Got my tickets for Les Claypool! On chapter 20 of Snow Crash!
