I'd say it's unbelievable, but I suppose it's actually right in line with the current ridiculousness. Like opposite day that lasts for years.
It should be unbelievable that they brought Colbert in to speak to the entire White House and press corps. It should be unbelievable that they laugh along as they are being ridiculed.
These guys are brazen, and they do whatever the hell they want. As far as they are concerned, they always get away with anything they want, and always will. So go ahead, make light of them to their faces. Why should they care? They still win, right?
Yeah, free speech is tricky in it's application. It's terrific that Colbert can get up there and do the equivalent of a celebrity roast. It relieves a lot of stress. I loved it. But in relieving that stress, it also calls to attention the mere existence of an undercurrent of tension that is probably unprecedented in our political times. ...
We're now subject to overwhelming torrents of unreliable information - selectively compiled and selectively covered by people with conflicting agendas - and are collectively realizing that we have absolutely no chance in hell of sorting through it all to find a truth or a fact ... that may not exist. It's unbelievably frustrating.
Our government has some systemic problems. It has grown so large and sprawling that those problems cannot be fixed. We've also become so dependent on this government for our sense of identity that revolution is impossible. What we do from here, I have no idea.
