The question about the teleporters reminds me of one of my favorite thought experiments -- what if, owing to that single trip through a transporter, everybody in the Star Trek universe turns out to be a philosophical zombie? And therefore the resistance to the Borg is kind of a moot point since the non-Borgs have no consciousness either, despite the convincing illusion (to themselves and everyone around them) that they are in fact conscious.
