I offer genuine condolences, dear heart. It is a surprisingly low blow to lose one of one's idols, someone who genuinely inspired you, someone whose very presence in your lives spurred you to be better at something.

You will do work that will be as great or better than what you did at Apple, but it may never take the same form. Will that difference be something you find you have to mourn? Maybe. Accepting different kinds of success can be difficult, but necessary to keep stepping more fully into the next endeavor.

If this were all that you had after your time at Apple, it would still be enough. You have so much more than that though, of course, but what a wonderful insight anyway. I hope that knowledge can be a guide as you find your next great thing to get your teeth around.
